l.i.w.s - low impact woodland services
Services
LIWS offers a range of services designed to meet the needs of the small woodland owner
Timber harvesting
We offer low impact harvesting services including manual felling, extraction by skidder or forwarder and conversion.  Timber sales may also be arranged if required. The versatility of our harvesting methods and equipment mean that we are able to bring the advantages of management to many neglected woodlands that would otherwise remain in that state.

Timber extraction
We are able to provide extraction services by low impact skidder and forwarder on a daily rate. The Oxtrac 1000 was developed in Canada for use on sensitive sites.  Its excellent manoeuvrability and low ground pressure means that soil structure is preserved,  compaction is minimised and damage to standing trees avoided   Depending on site, extraction rates of up to 50 tonnes per day may be achieved.

Advice and woodland services
As part of our service we are able to offer advice on many aspects of small woodland management including advice on species selection, thinning and felling, grants, preparation of plans and negotiation of timber sales.  We are also able to arrange other woodland services as required including planting, weeding and fencing.
